Ski resorts in of New Zealand

New Zealand is the leading ski destination in the Southern Hemisphere. The season is reversed here: lifts operate from June to October, when it is summer in Europe. The mountains of the South Island rise directly from the ocean, so the weather changes quickly, while the slopes offer views of lakes and fjords.

The resorts are concentrated around Wanaka and Queenstown. Cardrona- the area's largest ski area - has wide, gentle slopes and excellent snowparks. Treble Cone is known for its long runs and off-piste terrain. On the North Island, skiers ride the slopes of the active volcano Turoa.
