What visitors say about the resort

Mayrhofen is valued for its variety: Penken has a dense network of red pistes, peaceful Ahorn suits beginners, and Harakiri is Austria's steepest groomed run, mentioned in reviews almost without fail. The town itself also receives praise: it is lively, with shops and restaurants.

The main complaint is the morning queues for the Penkenbahn gondola, which are mentioned constantly. Another issue is that it is not possible to ski down to the village, so the descent is only by lift. As throughout the Zillertal, visitors also complain about the condition of the lower sections during warm winters.
