The town's first ski school was founded in 1954. In 1969, the resort opened a sports school for alpine skiing and biathlon. They can cover the piste with artificial snow within 100 hours at an air temperature of -3 °C. Chepelare is the first Bulgarian resort to offer free Wi-Fi throughout the ski area.
