The ski area rises from 1,400 to 2,750 m, with a vertical drop of 1,350 m. This vertical drop allows you to ski from top to bottom without changing lifts and noticeably changes the conditions throughout the descent. The upper pistes are at high altitude, so the snow lasts longer than on the lower slopes nearby. The season usually runs from 5 December to 11 April.

What visitors say about the resort
The absence of queues is what Nauders is praised for. Reviews are close to unanimous that even in high season you rarely wait at Bergkastel, and the lift fleet is described as modern. The pistes earn credit for being wide, long and consistently well groomed, with two full-length valley runs. Snow is another strong point, since most of the skiing sits above 1700 metres on north-facing slopes. The huts, above all the Goldseehuette and the Laerchenalm, are widely recommended.
Beginner access draws criticism. Guests report riding to the top and finding no blue run that carries all the way down, leaving them to descend on harder terrain than they wanted. Short connecting lifts between the easier sections are missing, so a novice keeps running into a red piste. The area is not large, which leaves strong skiers short for a full week, and genuinely difficult runs are few. Evenings are quiet.
