Three old villages sit on a sunny terrace above the Inn valley, and cars are kept out: Serfaus is served by an underground air-cushion railway, built in 1985, still the smallest metro in the world and free to ride. The slopes face south and west, ringed by the three-thousanders of the Samnaun group, and most of the pistes are intermediate. The area counts among the most family-friendly in Austria - it has more children's zones and attractions than black runs. Night skiing runs twice a week, as Adventure Night in Serfaus and Nightflow in Fiss.

Serfaus - Fiss - Ladis is almost always described in reviews as Austria's best family resort. Visitors praise the underground metro to the lifts, children's areas, car-free village and grooming quality: wide blue and red pistes at elevations from 1,200 to 2,800 m.

The complaints are predictable for a family resort: there is little truly challenging terrain, and confident skiers may find it boring by the third day.
