Olos stands on the Olostunturi fell at Muonio in western Finnish Lapland, not far from the Swedish border. The area is genuinely small: four lifts, around 165 metres of vertical, mostly easy and intermediate runs. Its larger neighbours, Ylläs and Levi, are both under an hour away. Cross-country trails run out from here far into the open fell country.

What visitors say about the resort
The praise is for how compact and uncrowded it is: slopes and services sit together, the hotel is right by the lift, and queues are practically unknown. Skiers rate the off-piste terrain, the powder and the lines through the trees. The cross-country network is the real point of pride, with a link to Pallas and a track running in from Muonio village, and snow is stored under sawdust so trails open in early December. The day pass counts among the cheapest in Lapland.
The lack of evening life is the standard complaint - there is no lively apres-ski and none is promised. Few runs are floodlit, so in the polar darkness the choice shrinks to a handful of slopes. The sunny side does not open until February, which means the area is only partly working in early winter; one visitor recalled a trip where three of the ten runs were in service. The restaurant is praised for its food but called pricey.
