The praise is for the view and the price: the resort sits on a balcony above Lac de Serre-Ponçon on the edge of the Écrins national park, and the panorama is called one of the finest in the Southern Alps. The pass is among the cheapest in the French Alps and the village stays quiet, with reviewers saying the absence of crowds is exactly why they come. Off the pistes there are rock bars, couloirs and pillow lines.
The lifts are what visitors criticise. The main complaint is chairlift speed, with one review putting it bluntly: never seen a chairlift this slow. Capacity comes in for the same treatment, as queues build even when there is almost nobody on the hill. Another recurring grievance is that the area often runs at half its extent while the pass is sold at full price.
