Price and emptiness win the praise: skiing is cheap and the wide open field at the head of the Ubaye valley stays almost free of crowds. Reviewers like the amphitheatre of peaks and rate the terrain workable for beginners and freeriders alike. The Chalet Sainte-Anne hotel gets credit for its homely welcome and food. Marked snowshoe routes, dog-sledding runs and snowscoot zones round out the offer.
The lifts are what regulars criticise. Two big drag lifts effectively vanished, Arpillon dismantled and Uvernage rarely opened, and the chairlift that replaced them is painfully slow, three times longer than the T-bar and leaving riders cold, dangling as one put it like hams in the wind that blows here often. Long-standing visitors say grooming has slipped too. Reviews are scarce overall.
