What visitors say about the resort
Schmittenhöhe is valued for its views: the mountain rises above Lake Zell, and the panorama from the summit appears in almost every review. Visitors praise the lively town below, with its lakeside promenade and shops, as well as the shared lift pass with the Kitzsteinhorn glacier.
Criticism focuses on the elevation: the base is at 750 m, and the run into town is far from always open. The second issue is that the ski area is small, at around 70 km, and enough for only a couple of days for a confident skier. Visitors also complain about queues for the gondola in town.
