This sunny resort is also one of the snowiest ski areas in the Alps. Tauplitz is the main training centre for ski instructors in Styria. The resort also offers a wide range of pistes for all ability levels. Families with children can enjoy attractive children's areas, while freeriders can explore numerous challenging slopes. The village of Tauplitzalm, with its country lodges and hotels, offers beautiful surroundings on the slopes.

Skiers can look forward to the wide slopes around the Mittersteinbahn lift, while freeriders can experience untracked terrain thanks to easier access to the Kleine Süd with the Mittersteinbahn lift. As a result, Tauplitz has many wide slopes suitable for skiers of all ability levels. They lead down through forest clearings to the lower part of the resort. The upper part of the ski resort lies just above the tree line. There are also enough easy slopes for beginners. Thanks to the resort's location, the slopes receive plenty of sunshine.

Worth knowing

150 snow cannons cover 99% of the slopes.

Routes around the resort

The Grosse Almrunde piste takes you through almost the entire Tauplitz ski resort and starts from the four-seater Tauplitz chairlift or the Mitterstein gondola.

The Panoramarunde piste offers magnificent 360° panoramic views of Lawinenstein, as well as views of Grimming, Totes Gebirge and Dachstein.

Snowparks

There is no snowpark or fun park.

There is no halfpipe.

Most pistes are served by modern lifts. The Mitterstein lift is one of the most efficient gondolas in Styria. It is linked to almost all the Lawinenstein pistes. In addition, there is the six-person Lawinenstein chairlift with weather-protection covers, the four-person Schneiderkogel chairlift and the four-person Tauplitzbahn I + II chairlift, which serve as feeder lifts from Tauplitz. T-bar lifts and tow ropes are mainly intended for beginners, and there is no longer any need to use them. Incidentally, Tauplitz has a very old skiing landmark. Its first tow lift entered service back in 1937, and the longest lift in the world at that time was introduced in 1953.
