Val Senales Glacier (Schnalstaler Gletscher)

Val Senales Glacier in South Tyrol is a real insider tip for skiers. When the slopes are covered in sparkling snow in spring, sun lovers can enjoy the warm spring sunshine and ski on glistening spring snow. Winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy the Val Senales Glacier ski resort from September to May on its permanent glacier snow. Beginners, experienced skiers and families all enjoy skiing on the glacier. Highlights of the ski resort include the 8 km Smuggler valley run to the base, the black Leo Gurschler piste (a professional course for slalom and giant slalom), and the Glacier Grawand high-altitude hotel at 3212 m, the highest mountain hotel in Europe.

Good to know

The ski resort at the end of Val Senales has pistes for all ability levels. The glacier slopes are mostly easy to intermediate. The slopes on Teufelsegg and in the valley are very challenging. Beginners can practise on the training slopes in the valley. The intermediate Lazaun slopes, which are also part of the ski resort, are located across the road from the base station.

Longest piste

The longest descent here is the Smuggler Run (valley run), 8 km long, with a vertical drop of 1201 m.

Most difficult piste

Teufelsegg. Length: 2.3 km. Vertical drop: 590 m.

Snowparks

There is no snowpark or fun park.

There is no halfpipe.

Night skiing

The ski resort offers night skiing.

An aerial tramway runs from the valley to the glacier. Fixed-grip chairlifts operate at the top of the glacier. There are also two modern four-seater weather-protected chairlifts running from the base to Teufelsegg at an altitude of 3034 m. There are two training lifts at the base. Opposite the base station, the Lazaun gondola ascends to 2433 m.
