Walmendingerhorn - Ifen - Heuberg

Snow reliability is praised: full snowmaking coverage means there is skiing even in a poor winter. The slopes face south and east so they get plenty of sun, the pistes are wide, and the Kleinwalsertal panorama is called the main impression. Families find it comfortable, with easy runs, clear signage and platter lifts in the valley for first turns, and the top of the Walmendingerhorn offers a couple of broad red descents.

Dated, slow lifts long overdue for replacement draw criticism, as does the absence of weather hoods on the chairs. There are many connecting traverses and few genuine pistes, so the area hangs together poorly: the lift by the bus stop has no link to the rest of it, and the bus drops you in the middle of the village rather than at a lift. Parking at the valley stations is scarce and charged for, apres-ski falls short, and the terrain is mostly easy to intermediate.
