Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm)

The Alpe di Siusi is the largest high alpine pasture in Europe: over fifty square kilometres of gently rolling plateau at around two thousand metres, overlooked by the towers of the Schlern and the Langkofel. There are almost no cars up here - access is by cable car from Siusi allo Sciliar or Ortisei, and driving up is permitted only early in the morning and only to overnight guests. The slopes are wide and almost entirely easy to intermediate; the terrain park, by contrast, is World Cup standard and the Italian team trains on it. The pass is shared with Val Gardena, with buses between the valleys.
