Val Gardena (Gröden)

Val Gardena is praised for the Dolomites in their purest form: views from the slopes are cited as the main reason to visit, while the Sellaronda - the route around the Sella massif - is a highlight in its own right. Visitors also note the grooming and the fact that almost all the skiing is linked.

The main complaints concern crowds and altitude. In high season, bottlenecks form on the Sellaronda, while the lower sections at 1200 metres can soften in warm weather. Visitors also complain about prices in Ortisei and the fact that the valley's three villages have very different atmospheres - choose carefully in advance.
