What visitors say about the resort
What visitors praise is the panorama: the view over Lake Thun and the Bernese Alps is rated among the finest in Switzerland. The gondola up to the Niederhorn gets its own mention - new cabins, quiet ride, hardly any wait. The area suits beginners and families, the slopes are gentle and fully visible, and children ride free on the junior card. Many come for the toboggan run and winter walks.
The complaint is that the skiing lasts a day at most: there are only a handful of runs, a single drag lift, and the descent all the way to Beatenberg is an ungroomed variant that does not suit everyone. Below two thousand metres the snow is unreliable and the season short. Getting up from the lake by funicular and gondola eats time in both directions. The mountain restaurant is faulted for a modern interior where guests expected a cosy hut.
