The praise is for the family format and the price: a child's day ticket costs five francs for everyone under fifteen, the single most repeated point in the reviews. The pistes are called very well kept and varied, with something for every level. The Nüegg mountain restaurant is praised for fair prices and good fondue. Steeper-minded visitors single out the Hohmad drag lift with its two black runs.
Size is the sticking point: there are not many runs, not enough for several days in a row, so most people come for a day trip, and some pistes are narrow. The area leans heavily on snowmaking, and in lean spells bare brown patches show through on the lower sections. Part of the fleet is still drag lifts, and Hohmad is too steep for beginners. Weekends get crowded on the descents, and visitors have found only one side of the paired lift running.
