Braunwald is a ski resort in the Eastern Switzerland region (Switzerland). Most of the skiing is on intermediate runs - a profile that suits most skiers.

What visitors say about the resort
The praise went to the car-free village, reachable only by cable railway, and to the setting: reviewers called the terrain spectacular and the atmosphere unusually quiet. The lifts were seen as unmodern but dependable, and guests insisted there were simply never any queues. The emptiness offset both the slow machinery and the short descents.
Those same points drew criticism: the chairlifts were called too slow and the runs too short. More importantly, skiing at Braunwald has ended: from the 2026/27 season the Mattwald, Gumen, Seblengrat and Bächital lifts were shut down after years of losses and snow-poor winters. The gondola to Grotzenbüel and a learners' carpet still run, and the focus has shifted to sledging and snowshoeing. Local businesses gathered signatures trying to save the Mattwald lift.
