Reviewers praise the variety of the runs: wooded sections let you ski in flat light and wind, when lifts rarely close, while the upper mountain opens up a view of some sixty three-thousand-metre peaks. Modern lifts, snowmaking across nearly the whole area that stretches the season into spring, and careful grooming all get credit - and above all the emptiness: in the second half of February guests saw no queues at all. Après-ski is quiet and homely.

The link between the two halves draws criticism: getting between Kals and Matrei is called far from ideal, and the Goldried chair sits away from the village, so a ski bus or your own car is needed. The lower pistes depend on artificial snow, while the high ones are praised. The family side attracts complaints too: slopes for confident skiers are good, but reviewers think the provision for children could be better.
