Ski resorts in Kiso Mountains
The Kiso Range is part of the Japanese Alps on the island of Honshu. In winter, the monsoon arrives here from the Sea of Japan, bringing snowfall rarely seen elsewhere: 10 m or more accumulates on the slopes each season, and the snow remains dry and light.
The region's largest ski area is Shiga Kogen, bringing more than 20 ski areas together under one lift pass. Nearby are Happo-One in the Hakuba Valley, with Nagano Olympic pistes, and Nozawa Onsen, where skiing is combined with hot springs right in the village.
