Kopaonik is the largest resort in Serbia, lying entirely within the national park of the same name on the ridge along the Kosovo border. Its high point is Pančićev vrh at 2,017 m, with the mausoleum of the botanist Josif Pančić on the summit itself. The local claim of two hundred sunny days a year is not far off: the massif stands apart and sees less cloud than the valleys around it. The lifts are modern, some chairs heated, snowmaking is near-total, and a floodlit run operates in the evenings.

What visitors say about the resort
The praise starts with the money: a lift pass costs a third to a half of the Alpine equivalent. Reviewers rate the ski school highly and note four nursery slopes with their own lifts, which makes this a fine place for a first season on snow. The operator reinvests every year, so much of the lift fleet is new and fast. The off-piste gets credit too, as does the village actually coming alive in the evening.
Criticism falls on size and organisation. There are only a couple of genuinely demanding descents and the longest run is about 3.5 km, so experienced skiers exhaust it in two or three days. Parking is a headache. Over New Year and in early February queues build at the lifts near the village centre, with some accounts citing 30 to 40 minute waits at uncovered four-seater chairs. Grooming lags: damaged sections go unrepaired for days. Pass, lodging and food prices have climbed sharply.
