The praise is for the price: reviewers call Maniva a place to ski without ruining yourself, and Brescia is a short drive away. Beginners get room - gentle blue runs dominate, carpet lifts cover the first steps, and there are rentals and places to eat. The new Barard lift was welcomed as a clear improvement, and the piste crew's snowmaking effort earns its own credit, since the guns carry most of the season here.
Snow and grooming draw criticism. Natural snowfall is thin, the slopes face the sun, and in mild spells the guns cannot cope: ice and bare patches appear with the ground showing through. Piste maintenance is described as extremely poor, and flat light is a recurring complaint. The access road is reported badly broken up, and several visitors still miss the snowpark that vanished.
