Poiana Brașov lies on Mount Postăvarul above Brașov and remains Romania's second largest resort and probably its best known. The slopes are surprisingly serious: over a third of the kilometres are black, and the runs drop to the village straight through spruce forest. Snowmaking is total. The gentle Bradul and Stadion sections are set aside for beginners. The medieval centre of Brașov with its Black Church is twelve kilometres away.

What visitors say about the resort
Poiana Brașov is praised as Romania's best-equipped resort, with hotels right by the slopes, modern gondolas, ski schools with Russian-speaking instructors and prices noticeably lower than in the Alps. Brasov and Bran Castle are nearby, offering plenty to do on a non-ski day.
Criticisms include the limited terrain, around 14 km, which can become boring for confident skiers by the second day. The other issue is queues on weekends and holidays. Visitors also complain about thaws because the elevation is relatively low.
