Predeal stands on the pass between the Bucegi and Piatra Mare massifs, above a thousand metres - the highest town in Romania. The skiing is modest: two lifts and seven kilometres of mostly intermediate runs on the Clăbucet slopes. But the town lies half an hour from both Sinaia and Brașov, so many people use Predeal as a base and ski the whole Prahova valley.

What visitors say about the resort
Ease of access is the first thing people commend: a train from Bucharest puts you on the slopes two hours later. Prices please too: the lift pass and equipment hire are described as very cheap. The Clabucet sector is considered comfortable for beginners, yet the genuinely steep Subteleferic run is there as well. Part of the terrain has snowmaking and lighting, and on weekdays there are no queues and the surface stays groomed longer.
Overload is the recurring complaint. At weekends and in school holidays the place cannot cope: the four-seat chair means a fifteen to twenty minute wait, and on the busiest days the press reported queues lasting hours. Snow guns do not cover everything, so the runs often turn to ice. By midday the pistes are cut up, and by late afternoon rocks show through on the lower section. The altitude is modest and the whole area can be ridden out in a day.
