The Straja ski resort is in Hunedoara County (Romania). It offers 26 km of slopes for skiing and snowboarding.

Straja ski resort is in the northern part of the Vâlcan Mountains, 8 km from Lupeni. Currently, Straja Resort has 12.5 km of ski area divided into 12 slopes, at elevations from 1,130 to 1,868 m.

The built-up area with buildings and accommodation is at an elevation of around 1,400 m. The ski area was recently expanded. The highest point of the slopes is 1,868 m - Straja Peak. The resort has undergone some improvements to its electrical infrastructure - the chairlift in Lupeni was replaced by a modern gondola lift, which starts from the Braita recreation area.

Straja tourist resort began operating as part of an effort to redirect the Valea Jiului area from industrial activity towards tourism. While there were only 78 accommodation places in 1970, there are now around 3,700. Unfortunately, many buildings were constructed without considering the town's overall development, so the area can be described as having developed chaotically in some respects.

Straja ski resort can be reached by gondola lift from the Braita area of Lupeni. Another option is the 8 km paved national road, which has been in use since 2007.
