Reviewers describe having the slopes almost to themselves and never waiting at a lift, which for families and beginners is close to the whole argument. The pistes are kept in good shape, services run smoothly, and rental and lessons are widely called inexpensive. It counts too that there is plenty to do besides skiing: husky teams, snowmobiles, the northern lights.

The modest scale and unreliable lift operation bring the complaints. The vertical is small and the run count low, so a confident skier soon finds it repetitive. One grievance recurs: a number of lifts stood closed, leaving visitors cycling the same couple of runs. Grooming happens only in the evening after closing, so the morning after a snowfall the surface can be badly cut up, which hits beginners hardest.
