Pikku-Syöte is located approximately 150 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle and is Finland's southernmost region. The forest landscapes surrounding the ski slopes receive the highest natural snowfall in Finland, with an average of more than three metres of snow each year. The average snow depth in April is 62 cm, with 17 hours of daylight. The ski runs at Pikku-Syöte are divided into two separate areas. These were separate resorts until their official merger in 1994, creating one of Finland's largest and southernmost ski resorts. There is no traditional resort centre, but log cabins are a popular and cosy form of local accommodation, and there are several good hotels. As in all ski areas in Northern Ostrobothnia, alpine skiing is just one part of a wide range of winter adventures and sports.
