San Martino di Castrozza

Piste condition comes first in reviews: grooming is called exemplary and queues are effectively absent even in season. The panorama of the Pale di San Martino is a reason to come in itself. The area is compact and gentle, which suits cruising and learning. Infrastructure has improved too: since 2024/25 a ten-seat gondola links the Ces and Tognola sectors, and a new eight-seat cabin serves Col Verde.

Fragmentation is the standing grievance. Only Ces and Tognola are joined; Passo Rolle and Col Verde remain separate sectors reached by car to their own car parks or by ski bus. Locals have campaigned for years for a proper connection and a project exists, but for now this is several detached areas rather than one resort. The town is quiet but apres-ski barely exists, and the terrain is pitched at beginners and intermediates.
