Sljeme is the summit of the Medvednica, the mountain standing directly above Zagreb, less than half an hour from the city centre. The area is tiny, four lifts and four kilometres of runs, but it is known well beyond Croatia: since 2005 it has hosted the Snow Queen Trophy World Cup round, one of very few held inside a capital city. The Croatian racers Janica and Ivica Kostelić grew up on this hill. A day pass costs around thirteen euros.

Sljeme is praised for its proximity to Zagreb: it is half an hour from the city centre, making it possible to ski after work. Visitors highlight the Snow Queen World Cup run and the pleasant surrounding forest.
The drawbacks are obvious: the ski area is tiny, the vertical drop is around 300 m, snow does not last long and depends entirely on snow cannons. The second issue is the crowds on weekends. It is not generally considered a destination in its own right.
