Grooming comes first in the praise: the pistes here are prepared immaculately, and that is what reviewers mention before anything else. It is a family hill and exceptionally kind to beginners, with the Ice Age Kinderland children's area. Mass tourism has not found it and queues do not form - you ski up to the lift and go. Road access and parking, the range of accommodation in the valley, cleanliness and friendly staff all get credit, and the Tannheim valley is rated among the best cross-country areas in Tyrol.
Size and price are the sticking points. Advanced skiers have nothing to do here: the black sections run only a couple of hundred metres, there are few pistes, and a day covers everything. There is no fun park. The day pass is considered dear for what is on offer. Reports of badly prepared slopes also crop up, so the immaculate grooming is not a given.
