The Venet rises above Landeck from three villages at once, and the vertical is enormous for so small an area - over 1,400 metres. There is not a single easy run: everything is intermediate or hard. The north-facing slopes hold snow and powder longest, the southern ones give soft spring corn, and the summit offers a full circle from the Ötztal Alps to the Lechtal range and on to the Zugspitze. Prices are noticeably lower than at the Tyrolean resorts nearby.

The quiet and the family scale are what reviewers like: Venet is described as a place for people tired of the crush at the big Tyrolean resorts, and it often gets called an insider tip. Guests say the signposting works well and you find your way around without trouble. Grooming is rated highly, with several reports calling the pistes superbly prepared. Down in Zams a practice lift lets beginners make their first turns free of charge.
Machinery is the problem: the main Venetbahn aerial tramway failed with a technical fault and stayed out of service for several seasons, leaving the Rifenal lift to carry access, and that one had to be stopped on safety grounds too, once ending a season early. Guests keep asking for the south side and its lifts to reopen. There is little terrain for beginners. The access road adds hassle, since snow chains are frequently made compulsory after fresh falls.
