The compliments centre on how close it is to the plain: under a hundred kilometres from Bologna, Modena and Florence, the handiest weekend option in Emilia. Reviewers mention well-groomed pistes, capable and friendly instructors, regional cooking in the mountain huts, a family atmosphere and slopes that rarely feel busy. The summit panorama and low prices come up often too.
The worn-out infrastructure draws criticism. The lifts are old: the Cavone - Rocce chairlift dating from 1983 had to be replaced, its seasonal opening was repeatedly delayed and skiers were bussed up from the car park instead. There are few runs and the choice palls quickly, the snow is almost entirely man-made, and lean winters hit the place hard. Complaints also cover chaotic parking, huts already shut by early afternoon, unsafe piste crossings on the way to the refuges, and slopes closed off for race training.
