Goderdzi sits on the pass of the same name in Adjara, on the road inland from Batumi, and is the only ski resort in the western part of Georgia. Construction began in 2012, the first season ran in 2015/16, and the area has stayed small since: three lifts, easy and intermediate runs. Snowfall here is exceptional - the moisture comes off the Black Sea, and the pass is often closed in winter. A day pass costs ten euros.

What visitors say about the resort
Snow is the headline: the Black Sea nearby brings heavy precipitation, cover settles in November and lasts into April, and the resort is recommended to freeriders, since the off-piste is gentle and easy to reach. The pistes are wide, long and mellow, which reviews call ideal for skiers who have outgrown the beginner stage. The nursery slope with its carpet, the new lifts including a gondola and a wind-shielded chair, and the near-solitude on the hill all get praise.
The approach and the everyday comforts are what people complain about. The journey takes some three and a half hours, the last twenty-odd kilometres from Khulo drift over in winter, and drivers often leave the car in the village and continue by snowmobile; from the Trans-Adjarian side the road is impassable altogether. After-ski barely exists, and bed numbers lag far behind what the lifts can carry.
