Tsey lies in the Tsey gorge of North Ossetia at close to two thousand metres, at the foot of the glacier of the same name. There are only two lifts and mostly intermediate runs, and mountaineering camps have long stood here - climbers set out for Adai-Khokh and the peaks around it. A few minutes from the base station, in pine forest, stands Rekom: an ancient Ossetian sanctuary built without a single nail and venerated to this day.

What visitors say about the resort
The snow and the mountains are what people praise. The gorge sits so that snow comes early, piles up deep and stays dry and fine-grained, and there is plenty of sun. Experienced skiers come for the upper section reached by the single chairlift, where the pitch gets steep and there is room to leave the piste. Skiing and lodging are called genuinely affordable, and the views towards the Skazsky glacier are named the best part of the trip.
The infrastructure takes the beating. Reviews say plainly that the place lives off its Soviet inheritance and is barely developed. Guests report a sewage smell in the rooms, generator noise and poor internet coverage. Slope conditions are bad enough that people break skis and boards on them. Strong wind stops the cable car, and once it stood idle for two days with no announcement, so visitors only found out on arrival. Lift lines build up at weekends.
