Tetnuldi opened in 2016 beneath the 4,858 m peak of the same name and is the largest area in Svaneti. The base station stands at 2,265 metres, the forest stays far below, and the slopes are wide and open - beyond the pistes there are whole bowls of freeride terrain, which is mostly what brings people here. Below lies Mestia with its medieval Svan towers; further up the valley is Ushguli, one of the highest permanently inhabited villages in Europe and a World Heritage site.

What visitors say about the resort
Skiers rate it for scale and snow: the vertical is huge, the longest descent runs to nearly ten kilometres, Svaneti reliably gets deep cover and the slopes are wide and open. Reviewers say the terrain genuinely rewards competent skiers and freeriders, and the views of the Caucasus peaks are routinely described as the highlight of the trip.
The lack of development draws criticism. There is nowhere to stay at the base and barely any infrastructure, so nights are spent in Mestia, fifteen kilometres away down a broken road that in winter demands four-wheel drive and good clearance. The lifts shut by four in the afternoon, the bottom station can mean thirty to forty minutes of queueing at peak times, and strong wind regularly closes the upper sections and can write off a day. Rental, food and service prices strike many visitors as too high for what is on offer.
