Hafjell was built in 1988 specifically for the Lillehammer Olympics: in 1994 it staged the giant slalom and part of the speed programme, and the Olympic course is still in place. Lillehammer is fifteen kilometres away, Oslo two hundred. The hill is gentle, with nearly four fifths of the runs blue, and the resort lives off families, for whom one of Norway's largest terrain parks and a tubing lane were built. In summer Hafjell becomes a bike park and hosts Downhill World Cup rounds.

What visitors say about the resort
Hafjell is praised for Lillehammer's Olympic heritage and convenience: two hours from Oslo by train, well-groomed pistes, a bobsleigh track and an amusement park. Its family-friendly character is also noted.
Criticism focuses on its size: around 50 km, which is enough for a confident skier for a couple of days. The second issue is prices and queues during Norwegian holidays. Visitors also complain about icy pistes.
