Trysil is Norway's largest resort, two hundred kilometres north of Oslo near the Swedish border. Trysilfjellet stands apart from its neighbours and the runs radiate from the summit in every direction: the northern sides hold snow longer, the southern warm up sooner. According to the local record, the world's first ski race was held here in 1855. The latitude gives a season from late November to late April, but also a dim midwinter, which is why almost all the lower runs are floodlit.

Trysil is praised as Norway's largest resort, with a mountain offering pistes in every direction, wide, well-groomed slopes and excellent facilities for children. Reliable snow from November to April is also frequently noted.
Criticism focuses on the cold and wind on the exposed summit, the short daylight hours in December and the prices. Norway is expensive, and the food on the slopes reflects that. There is little challenging terrain.
