Horní Domky lies on the southern flank of Lysá hora in the Czech Krkonoše, above the town of Rokytnice nad Jizerou. The vertical here is 658 metres, among the largest in the country, and the run from Lysá hora stretches three and a half kilometres. Snowmaking is nearly complete and there is a park. The upper part is open, above the tree line, and the ridge is often windy, which shuts the top lifts in bad weather.

Skiers praise the long, wide runs and the serious vertical - by Czech standards this is one of the meatier ski areas, with gentle family terrain alongside a black run for anyone chasing gradient. Reviewers note careful grooming, sensible lift pass prices when bought online, cheap lodging and on-mountain food, and a free ski bus.

Queues are the recurring gripe: on weekends and during Czech and Polish school holidays the main lift can mean a twenty-five minute wait, while the lower cable car has no hoods and leaves riders cold and wind-blown. Paid parking, restaurants that only open at eleven and patchy service also come up. Snow holds poorly at the bottom and the cannons are fired up late, so December and January visits are worth checking against the snow report - season openings have repeatedly been pushed back.
