Jakobshorn (Davos Klosters)

Clarity is the big plus: Jakobshorn's layout of runs and lifts is called the most traditional and easiest to read in the whole Davos Klosters region. It also scores for having proper cable lifts rather than the T-bars of neighbouring valley sectors. The mountain is a magnet for snowboarders - the Jatz park with its jumps, rails and pipes pulls in freeriders and freestylers, and there is a good beginner area at the base beside town. Access is straightforward from Davos Platz station.

Peak-season crowding is the recurring complaint, with popularity working against the hill. The bottleneck shows in the numbers: the first gondola stage from Davos to Jschalp moves 1,220 people an hour, the second up to Jakobshorn only 660, and that is where the queue builds. Visitors also advise checking the January dates of the World Economic Forum, when crowds, security and restrictions take over Davos.
