Panorama rises above the town of Invermere in the Columbia Valley of the British Columbia Rockies, with one of the largest verticals in North America - over 1,200 metres from village to summit. More than half the terrain is marked black: the heart of it is the Taynton Bowl behind the ridge and the Extreme Dream Zone, which you enter only after an equipment check. Heliskiing operates from the resort, flying into the neighbouring Purcell ranges. The village at the base has the largest outdoor hot pools in Canada, and half the resort heads there after skiing.

What visitors say about the resort
The praise is for the vertical - among the longest on the continent - and for Taynton Bowl, which is close to backcountry inside the boundary, where tracks last for days after a storm. Reviewers note how few people there are, the friendly staff, the well-kept slopes and a good terrain park.
The lifts draw criticism: reaching the summit takes three separate chairs, and that eats time. The upper third of the mountain has no snowmaking, so Panorama is a risky bet early in the season. Some visitors consider the resort expensive for what it delivers.
