Ski resorts in Sierra Nevada (US)
Sierra Nevada runs along eastern California, separating the state’s valleys from the Nevada deserts. Pacific storms unload here, so snowfall is abundant, but noticeably wetter than in the Rocky Mountains - locals call it “Sierra cement”.
The main ski hub is Lake Tahoe, home to Palisades Tahoe, with its 1960 Olympic heritage, and Northstar. Farther south is Mammoth Mountain- a 3369 m mountain where the season often lasts until June.
