Dragobrat is the highest resort in Ukraine: its base station stands at 1,400 metres, above the tree line. The skiing spreads over several sectors below the Stih and Blyznytsia summits, with Hoverla, the country's highest point at 2,061 m, in view. There is only one road in, and it is rough - the last kilometres from Yasinia are done by off-road vehicle. But the snow settles early and lasts into late April, with patches still on the north faces in May.

What visitors say about the resort
Snow and the character of the skiing earn the compliments. This is the highest point in the Ukrainian Carpathians, with a microclimate of its own: natural snow lies all season and nobody recalls a snowless winter here in decades. Freeriders and strong skiers love Dragobrat for its steep lines, broken terrain and the chance to drop into untracked snow. There are none of the Bukovel crowds, and the guesthouses stand right by the lifts.
The access road and the bare-bones facilities draw criticism. You cannot drive up yourself: at Yasinia you transfer to off-road trucks such as a UAZ or GAZ-66, and the shuttle is not cheap. Infrastructure stays rough, shops operate inside the hotels and stock little beyond snacks and basic drinks, and after eleven at night there is nowhere to eat. The pistes have no floodlighting, so skiing is daylight only. Most lifts are drags and beginners struggle.
