Ski resorts in Asia
Asia offers two very different ski worlds. The first is Japan, where the winter monsoon brings snowfall found nowhere else: Hokkaido and the Japanese Alps receive up to ten metres of dry snow each season. The second is the continental belt stretching from Türkiye and the Caucasus through Iran and Central Asia to China and South Korea, where winters are dry and cold and the slopes rely on snowmaking.
The season runs from December to March almost everywhere. Japanese resorts combine skiing with hot springs, Korean resorts offer night skiing and an Olympic legacy, while resorts in the Caucasus and Central Asia remain noticeably cheaper than their European counterparts at comparable elevations.
